Metta Meditation

Metta is a loving-kindness meditation that invites compassion, gratitude, and presence into your body and your life.

It’s a practice I return to often, especially when I feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or in need of softness.

You can practice Metta in the morning, before bed, or anytime you want to slow down and reconnect.

Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or stand.
Take a few slow breaths.

Let your shoulders soften.
Feel your body supported beneath you.

If it feels natural, place one hand over your heart.

Begin by offering kindness to yourself.

Gently or silently say:

May I be well, healthy and strong
May I be happy
May I live in peace
May I feel safe and secure
May I feel love and cared for
May I feel the flow of joy and abundance

Pause for a breath.

Now bring to mind someone you care about.

Repeat:

May you be well, healthy and strong
May you be happy
May you live in peace
May you feel safe and secure
May you feel love and cared for
May you feel the flow of joy and abundance

Take another breath.

As you feel ready, widen your awareness to include your family, your friends, community or the wider world.

Together, may we be well, healthy and strong
Together, may we be happy
Together, may we live in peace
Together, may we feel safe and secure
Together, may we feel love and cared for
Together, may we feel the flow of joy and abundance

Let these words move through you like a gentle wave of compassion.

Take a moment to notice how your body feels.

Metta reminds us that love begins within, and when we tend to ourselves with kindness, that energy naturally flows outward.

May this practice support you in meeting your day with softness, clarity, and an open heart.

Much love,
Karla
